Mixed media collage: inkjet on card, screenprint, found objects
A0 x 4
I thought the box of postcards I’d haggled from the Barras Market was a selection of random, unrelated items sent to different people, but I soon realised that most of them were sent to the same individuals or families. The biggest pile belonged a regular family from Birmingham, and the correspondence spanned over three decades, four addresses and two children. In the least creepy way ever, I became rather fixated on these little snippets of personal history and found myself bizarrely attached to this family. Using google maps and social media, I was able to piece together sporadic bits of information from 1950 to 2018. They still talk about sending postcards on social media, but the destinations have changed.
