All Hail Aileen is a homage to Aileen Carol Wournos (1956-2002), a street-based sex worker who claimed she acted in self-defence when she shot, killed, and robbed seven of her clients.
Aileen Wournos is also informally known as one of the Patron Saints of Sex Workers (alongside Valerie Solanas, Anna Nicole Smith, and Annie Sprinkle).
The performance utilises archival footage from Wourno's 1992 Dateline interview, intersected with snippets from the song Cell Block Tango from the 2002 musical Chicago.
