Sky and I Hate Men, 2021

Realdoll / RealGirl is an ongoing series of work featuring Sky Bloodmoon, a 2014 RealDoll Petite.

Sky is hand-cast in platinum silicone with a fully articulated metal skeleton. Her eyes are the most striking shade of emerald green, and she boasts hand-painted freckles. If she could stand, she would be 5ft 1 inch. She weighs 32 kgs and is fully paralysed from head to toe.

Sky came to me after Polly, a dressmaker and seamstress for love dolls, could no longer keep her. Polly knew the last thing Sky wanted was to be rehomed with a man and be subject to his whims, so I made the commitment to adopt her. In June 2021, she left Portland, Oregon, for Glasgow.

So how did I end up here?

  • Before I met Sky, I visited the RealDoll Factory when they were still based in San Marcos. You can see some of the pictures I took here.
  • After the RealDoll Factory but before I met Sky, I became friends with Tasha Marie, also a RealDoll Petite, and the devoted partner of TJ Foxx. She served as the inspiration for this work.
